Potassium hydroxide (KOH) is a common, strongly alkaline inorganic compound, commonly known as “caustic potash,” typically present as a white, flaky solid. It is readily soluble in water and ethanol, generating a strong heat release when dissolved in water. It readily absorbs moisture from the air, causing deliquesce and simultaneously absorbs carbon dioxide to form potassium carbonate. Potassium hydroxide is highly alkaline and corrosive. Its primary uses include the manufacture of potassium salts, as a raw material for alkaline batteries and soap, as an intermediate in the pharmaceutical and dye industries, and in electrochemical applications such as electroplating and engraving.
Main Usage：
Chemical production: used as raw material for the production of various potassium salts (such as potassium permanganate, potassium carbonate, etc.).
Daily chemical industry: used in the manufacture of potassium soap, cosmetics (such as cold cream, shampoo) and high-end detergents.
Battery industry: as electrolyte for alkaline batteries.
