Neopentyl glycol is mainly used as a plasticizer for the production of unsaturated polyester resin, oil-free alkyd resin, polyurethane foam and elastomer, an additive for advanced lubricating oil and other fine chemicals. It can be used for the selective separation of aromatic hydrocarbons and cycloalkane hydrocarbons, and can also be used as a raw material for the production of polymerization inhibitors, stabilizers, and insecticides.
